Some are taking a wait-and-see approach.
In July, Saginaw City Council voted to opt out with a sunset provision that will allow the city to revisit its decision in a year.
In that time, council members said, there will be more information and the state will have ironed out its rules.
Medical marijuana facilities were also blocked by city council in the same meeting on July 22.
In January, Saginaw Township Board of Trustees voted to prohibit recreational marijuana facilities from operating in the township.
Buena Vista Township officials blocked recreational facilities in December, after allowing and granting licenses for eight medical marijuana businesses.
For those unable to attend the upcoming meeting in person, application instructions, checklists and additional resources will be made available in the future and posted on the MRA website at www.michigan.gov/MRA.
