The Verilife medical-marijuana dispensary in Columbia Township has gotten the green light from state regulators to open for business.
The State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy on Wednesday awarded a certificate of operation to Verilife, located at 5431 Ridge Ave.
Verilife is now the nearest dispensary to Cincinnati with the necessary approval from the state to build up its product inventory and begin selling marijuana bud and marijuana-infused edibles and other products to registered patients.
It’s not clear when the dispensary will open to customers. A spokesman for Verilife’s owner, Oak Park, Ill.-based PharmaCann, could not immediately be reached for comment.
The notice Wednesday from the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control program announcing three new dispensary operating licenses gave no further information.
Registered medical-marijuana patients and caregivers can legally buy marijuana in Ohio to treat 21 qualifying medical conditions, including cancer, Parkinson’s diseaase, epilepsy and glaucoma.
Before Verilife received its certificate to operate, the nearest active dispensary to Cincinnati was about 30 miles north of the city in Lebanon, where the About Wellness Ohio dispensary opened in May.
But several other dispensaries closer to Cincinnati recently told The Enquirer they’re close to getting their certificates to operate.
Have a Heart Cincy in Hartwell, the only dispensary inside the city limits, and Verdant Creations, also in Columbia Township, are still waiting to pass a final inspection by the pharmacy board to receive their certificates to operate.
So far, 29 of the 56 dispensaries awarded provisional licenses last year have passed final inspection and received certificates to operate.
