A majority of the board, though, recently directed the village attorney to add new regulations to the village’s proposed cannabis ordinance, which would permit the sales if approved, after Mayor Harriet Rosenthal suggested a variety of ideas. The new state law legalizing marijuana use Jan. 1 allows individual communities to decide whether to welcome or ban recreational marijuana sales.
