

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – A Rocky Point man was arrested in Patchogue on Wednesday for allegedly scamming investors out of over $60,000 between December 2018 and March 2019, according to Suffolk Police.
After an investigation, detectives arrested 36-year-old Matthew Gallagher on Main Street at 5 p.m. for collecting money from three people and telling them they were investing in a legal marijuana farm in California, police said.
The people were promised a high return on their investment in the farm, which detectives found out does not exist, police said.
Gallagher first degree scheming to defraud , three counts of third degree grand larceny and first degree identity theft, police said.
