Recreational marijuana was also approved in New Jersey by more than 1.7 million voters. With 67% of voters in favor of the measure, s greater than the estimated 60% of voters who were expected to be in favor of legal recreational marijuana. According to Ballotpedia, this vote makes New Jersey the first Mid-Atlantic state (out of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland) to legalize recreational marijuana. The amendment will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2021.
