Ex-Eagles linebacker to cops: I had to deal pot because other investments ‘went bad’ (Video)

Former Eagles Super Bowl linebacker Nigel Bradham was arrested Nov. 13 in Leon County, Fla., on three felony charges — possession of marijuana over 20 grams, possession with the intent to sell and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

In an 86-minuted dashcam video obtained by NJ Advance Media, Bradham — who is retired — explained to police that other business ventures had failed and he decided to invest in marijuana, which he had bought in California.

“Football is gone for me, so I was, like, ‘Man, I got to make some investments and make some money,’” Bradham says on the video. “My lifestyle has changed. I have my family and everything. I had to take some risks. I had to take some risks in stocks and take some risks in investments … like restaurants, but some of those s**** went bad. I was just, like, marijuana is coming up, and I invested in it out there, but I know that s*** don’t go out here legally. One day, hopefully.”

According to the arrest and probable cause affidavit filed by the Florida Highway Patrol, Bradham initially was pulled over after a patrolman ran his license plate after seeing the sports car was “clean” and the license plate was “dirty.”

Bradham was driving a Chevrolet C8, but police said the plate was registered to a Dodge van. After Bradham was pulled over, the officer smelled the scent of marijuana, the affidavit said. Police said Bradham told the officer that he had a medical marijuana card, but a search revealed Bradham was not in the registry.

Bradham was eventually removed from the car and placed in handcuffs before being booked into jail. Police said they found a gun and 3.45 pounds of marijuana in the car.

Bradham started 58 games for the Eagles in four seasons, including 2017, when they won Super Bowl LII against the New England Patriots. Bradham’s last appearance in an NFL game was Week 7, when he was playing with the Denver Broncos.

According to Over the Cap, Bradham earned $21,138,172 since he entered the league in 2012. Much of that goes to taxes, agents, and other expenditures, but it looks as if Bradham wanted to take part in the latest marijuana boom around the country.

However, bringing that amount of marijuana into a state like Florida, where it is allowed for medicinal purposes only, wound up being a bad idea.
