Micro cannabis business planned on Green Street, Clinton

CLINTON – Adding to the operating and proposed marijuana businesses in town, many locating at Green Street locations where Weetabix once operated, Naked Nature LLC Cannabis Cultivation is planning a micro business.

Eleazer Dummett said the business plans a 5,000-square-foot canopy to grow craft cannabis.

The business plans to “produce quality in a small footprint,” Dummett said. “It has been a great experience to find that location. It will meet our needs.”

Selectmen voted to enter into negotiations for a host community agreement at the board’s Jan. 5 meeting.

Downtown project

Selectman Ed Devault said the downtown project was “one of the rare projects where people are happy about it and can’t stop talking about it.

“The project was great. Downtown hasn’t looked this good since I’ve been alive,” he said. “It looks great, and decorations for Christmas really put it over the top.”

He advocated for recognizing people involved in the project at the next board meeting.

“We’re going to be able to sell a new downtown for the next four or five years,” Devault said. “I think moving forward, from time to time, we should take time out to do some recognition.”

In other business

• Clinton will get a few more months to decide if the town wants to make use of the former Armory building, Chairman Sean Kerrigan said. The state agreed to give the town until June 15 to make a decision.

“We have a little breathing room,” Kerrigan said of the timeline to decide if the town can make use of the facility.

• Selectmen reviewed and voted to approve a draft job description for the planned assistant town administrator, sending the document to the Personnel Board for the next step in the process of creating the new position.
