Springfield Offers Business Grants From Cannabis Revenues; Application Process Starts Tuesday

The application process begins Tuesday for a new business assistance program in Springfield, funded by a portion of the city’s revenue from legal cannabis.

The Business Assistance Cannabis Grant program is open to businesses with at least 51-percent minority ownership. The business must also be located in, or planning to locate or expand into, a designated area running from Carpenter to Ash and Dirksen Parkway to the 10th Street corridor. Grants of up to $100,000 are available, but the business must provide a 10-percent match. The money can be used for equipment, inventory, new construction, or some labor costs.
