FRAMINGHAM, MA — Plans for Framingham’s first cannabis “microbusiness” are coming into view as Richards Flowers prepares to appear before the Planning Board this week.
Richards Flowers LLC signed a host-community agreement with Framingham in late 2020 and received a provisional license from the Cannabis Control Commission in June. The Planning Board on Thursday will review owner Alan Silverman’s plans to use about 3,600 square feet of a building at 296 Irving St. to grow cannabis and potentially manufacture marijuana products.
Under state law, cannabis microbusinesses are allowed to both cultivate and manufacture cannabis products, but are subject to size limits. Larger cannabis companies must get separate licenses to if they want to both manufacture and grow marijuana.

According to documents submitted to the Planning Board, Richards Flowers would mainly be upgrading the interior of 296 Irving, but will be making some exterior upgrades, like installing security devices. A convenience store located at the same address would remain.
The business would operate between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. seven days per week, according to the provisional license.
