Cannabis insiders to kick off 2023 with business mixer in Jersey City. Here’s how to get tickets.

The New Jersey commission overseeing cannabis on Friday announced New Jersey had surpassed $100 million in recreational weed sales from July to September — nearly doubling what it had sold in the previous three months since the market opened.

The growth trend is expected to continue as the market expands. The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission also announced this month proposed rules for legal weed consumption lounges, where consumers could safely light up without violating the law.

“New Jersey is only seeing the beginning of what is possible for cannabis” said CRC Executive Director Jeff Brown. “We have now awarded 36 annual licenses for recreational cannabis businesses to New Jersey entrepreneurs, including 15 for dispensaries.”

As those 36 businesses prepare to open their operations, nearly 1,000 others have been granted temporary permits to sell, manufacture and grow cannabis. Amid the expansion of Garden State’s legal market, NJ Cannabis Insider will host a meetup and networking session Jan. 18 in Jersey City. (Tickets here.)

The meetup begins at 6 p.m. at Zeppelin Hall Beer Garden, 88 Liberty View Drive, with a Q&A with Jersey City Councilman Yousef Saleh, followed by a talk by cannabis insiders on pressing topics such as predatory financial behavior and the real estate landscape. Networking and the vendor space will open from 7-10 p.m. Price of admission includes two drinks and happy hour eats. Tickets are $125.

There are a limited number of tickets. For more information or to register for the event, go here.
