County to hold public hearing on budget amendments, including marijuana tax

Franklin County will hold a public hearing next week over several amendments to its 2023 budget, including one involving its marijuana sales tax. A court may ultimately decide whether the county can legally impose the tax, but for now the county is planning on additional revenue from marijuana sales.

But the amount of revenue the county reports receiving from the 3-percent recreational cannabis tax is just an estimate at this point, said County Auditor Angela Gibson.
