New cannabis dispensary opening for business in Peoria

A new marijuana dispensary in the old Applebee’s building on War Memorial Drive will have its grand opening Wednesday in Peoria.

The dispensary at 3929 W. War Memorial Drive, an Ivy Hall brand, will be the third dispensary operating in Peoria.

Majority-African American and veteran-owned, the development is part of the state’s social equity licensing for cannabis dispensaries.

Public sales begin Wednesday at 9 a.m. The business will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday though Thursday; 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Ivy Hall spent $1 million renovating the old Applebee’s building to outfit it as a dispensary. The business says it will employ about 30 people.

New cannabis dispensaries are coming online quickly in the Peoria area. Peoria Heights just opened its first dispensary on Dec. 9, and East Peoria is planning on seeing two new dispensaries open by early 2024.

Peoria has a cap of six dispensaries that are allowed to operate within city limits. The Ivy Hall opening puts them halfway to that cap, as Trinity already has two locations in the city.

The other three locations that have put in applications to operate in Peoria are: Northern Cardinal Ventures LLC at 7628 W. Route 91; Exxotic Strains LLC at 1210 W. Glen Ave.; and another dispensary at 4600 N. Brandywine Drive.
